Landing the Dream Job

Farrer Class of 2022 student Ryan Tuckey landed his dream job as diesel mechanic with major industry firm WesTrac in Tamworth last month.

Ryan was successful in securing one of the statewide jobs chosen from approximately 1,000 applicants. “The interview process was quite long and intense. Applicants had to go through a knowledge based test before qualifying to do an online interview which I had to record at home myself! ” recalled Ryan. “Selected applicants then had to travel to Tomago in Newcastle to complete a practical test building multiple miniature machines using Lego in a given timeframe.”

Beaming with excitement, Ryan came back to Farrer to share his good news. He will commence work in January 2023 while continuing to complete theory and TAFE related learning in Newcastle.
