Joan Wood

Head Teacher CAPA

Joan Wood

Joan has been a member of the Farrer community since 1992, after successfully being appointed as the Languages teacher and moving from Sydney, where she had been teaching French, German and Japanese. For the past 15 years, Joan has held the position of Head Teacher CAPA, providing support to the Visual Arts and Music teachers and encouraging students to explore their creative potential.

Joan’s experience extends beyond the classroom. Additional responsibilities that she has taken on include duty master, Year Coordinator, SLAPS Mentoring Program and ODAS organiser  of numerous Sydney and Coffs Harbour Excursions. Joan is also part of the Writing Initiative Team and the Quality Teaching Rounds. This year she has taken on  a new challenge as the rugby coordinator.

Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 4 children, baking, sewing, and trying her hand at a bit of  interior decorating  and travelling back to Northern Ireland to visit her sister and extended family when the opportunity arises.
