Jarrad Smith
Head Teacher (Relieving) HSIE
After completing his HSC at Farrer, Jarrad attended the University of New England in Armidale and gained a double degree in Arts and Law. He
then spent five years working at the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department in Canberra, before relocating back to Tamworth with
his young family.
Following several years working in Tamworth and the North West region in the not-for-profit mental health sector, Jarrad was ready for a career change and completed a Masters of Teaching through UNE in 2019.
Since starting in the HSIE team at Farrer in 2019, Jarrad has been actively involved in many facets of the Farrer community, including as the Year Coordinator for the Class of 2029 cohort, residential duties, wellbeing initiatives and water polo coaching and administration.
He is an enthusiastic educator with a particular interest in the intersection between law, politics, social justice and history, and has a genuine passion for building student understanding and engagement with their community and the world around them.
Jarrad has taken on the relieving Head Teacher of HSIE position. He is excited to work alongside the HSIE team to build student interest in the wide variety of humanities subjects, with the aim of enhancing the ability of students to participate and think critically about the society they live in.
