Enrolment at Farrer

The enrolment process varies for students in Year 7 and in Years 8 to 11.

Years 8-11 Enrolment

If you require more information, please complete the initial Enrolment Enquiry Form. Our Enrolments Officer will then be in contact with you regarding availability, as we have a limited number of vacancies.

Year 7 Enrolment

As Farrer is a selective high school, the process for enrolment in Year 7 commences when your son is in Year 5.

To help you decide if Farrer is suitable for your son, you can register him to attend the Year 5 Experience Day in September, and the whole family can attend our Open Day in March each year. This will give you an opportunity to meet our dedicated staff, to tour our fantastic facilities and explore our curriculum.

You can submit an Expression of Interest in attending our Open Day. However, if it would be more convenient to take a personalised tour at another time, please complete the Book a Tour Form

For Year 7, both boarders and day students seeking to enrol at Farrer are required to sit the State Based Selective School Test.

You can read about selective high schools here on the NSW Dept of Educations website. This link will provide information about how selective high school enrolment works, the selective schools test, and the application and selection process

Alternatively, visit the Selective High Schools and Opportunity Class Placement website.

See our Year 7 page for more information regarding the different processes for Boarders and Day Students, as well as an indicative timeline for the enrolment application process for Year 7 at Farrer.
