Coleman Shield Regional Finals
The Coleman Shield regional cricket final was held in Inverell on Wednesday 26th November. Farrer lost the toss and were sent in to bat on a tricky Varley Oval wicket. The team were in a little trouble after 2 quick wickets and being 2 - 11 after 4 overs.
Lachie Berry and Nate Grasnick started to settle in to form a 272 run partnership. Lachie scored an impressive 145 runs that included 3 sixes and 19 fours, keeping excellent form throughout the innings. He was capably supported by Nate Grasnick who hit 5 fours on his way to 100 runs. After 40 overs Farrer ended up setting an impressive total of 4 - 304.
In reply, Farrer were excellent with the ball restricting Inverell to 100 in 21.1 overs. Despite a few wides and byes adding to the total the Farrer bowlers made it difficult for Inverell to bat. Cameron Baird bowled a tight 4 overs with figures of 1/14, including 1 maiden. Hugo Clery started the Inverell collapse with 3-15 including a double wicket maiden. But the most impressive bowling figures of the day went to Jackson Hayne with 5/7. Including a triple wicket maiden and a wicket maiden to finish off the day.
