2026 Student Leadership Program
On May 8, we were fortunate enough to be invited to the Parliament of NSW as part of the 2026 Student Leadership Program visit.
The day provided many opportunities for the boys to meet MPs from across the state, including Tamworth’s own Kevin Anderson. It also gave us the chance to ask questions, connect with other school captains and gain insight into leadership, current affairs and pathways into Parliament.
Our favourite part of the day was experiencing Question Time. Despite plenty of yelling and a few backhanded compliments exchanged between politicians, it was a valuable opportunity to witness the inner workings of legislation and decision making in NSW. It also reinforced that although people have different political views, at the end of the day they’re all mates.
To conclude the visit, we travelled to Government House Sydney, where we explored the residence of the NSW Governor, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley. We then had the opportunity to ask Her Excellency questions before enjoying afternoon tea overlooking the harbour.
Overall, it was an extremely enjoyable and insightful experience that provided valuable lessons we can share with our peers and apply within our own leadership roles.
