Bronze in Stan Jones State Finals
After a strong regional run, Farrer's 1st IV headed to Nelson Bay for another crack at the state championships. Led by captain Sam Savovski, with Myles Manning , debutant Orlando York and veteran Will Penberthy. Having come 7th last year, the boys were pleasantly surprised to find themselves seeded third in this year's competition, but an accurate seeding nonetheless, reflecting their growth over the previous 12 months.
Round 1: Beat East Hills in a tough doubles battle, then sealed the win with strong singles + doubles play.
Semi-Final: Faced the no.2 seed Hunter Sports High. Farrer fought hard with Orlando and Myles grabbing singles wins, but fell just short overall. Going down narrowly, the boys left the tennis with heads held high and finished the day in traditional fashion by letting Mr Heitmeyer win the ten pin bowling.
Wet courts unsuitable for play welcomed them in the morning, a nearby golf driving range kept us busy while the courts were drying, but a second downpour put a definite end to the tennis.
The Farrer 1st IV were awarded Equal bronze, our best result since bronze in 2014. Well done to the boy!!
