Discovering Engineering
Farrer thanks Engineering Australia for inviting us and Sydney Flight College and Hanlens Consulting for their mentorship at Aeronautics Day. Thirty-four students took on the challenge of building wooden aircraft, guided by professional engineers and pilots.
After an introduction to the rules and flight design from UNSW lecturers, students worked in teams to construct gliders capable of carrying vaccines across a river. Despite limited time and strict requirements, all five groups succeeded, with one transporting a notable 30 units—the highest of the day. It was a rewarding, hands-on learning experience for everyone involved.
