Farrer Chess Friendly
Farrer’s chess team travelled to McCarthy Catholic College for a friendly match filled with strategy, skill, and good sportsmanship. The event brought together a strong showing from both schools, with 12 players representing Farrer across all year groups.
Throughout the day, each student played approximately five games, squaring off against a range of opponents from McCarthy. The atmosphere was relaxed but focused, with players deep in concentration as they battled it out on the boards.
The matchup provided an excellent opportunity for students to test their abilities, learn new tactics, and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with friendly interschool competition. Farrer students showed impressive resilience and thinking under pressure, while also respecting the strength and skill of their McCarthy opponents.
These regular meetings between Farrer and McCarthy are always a highlight of the chess calendar, and this visit was no exception. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day, and all players appreciated the quality of opposition and the chance to represent their school with pride.
Well done to all participants, and we look forward to the next opportunity to match wits across the board.
