Incredible Experience at National Schools Constitutional Convention
In Week 9 of Term 2, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the 31st National Schools Constitutional Convention in Canberra, alongside 100+ students from across Australia.
Highlights included touring Parliament House, hearing from Speaker Milton Dick and federal MPs, watching Question Time and meeting representatives like Senator Fatima Payman and Minister Jason Clarke.
Over the following days, we took part in workshops and debates on the Australian Constitution, before visiting Government House and meeting Governor-General Sam Mostyn. We also attended a dinner at the National Press Club, hearing from journalists and past participants. The week wrapped up with a mock referendum, putting our ideas into practice.
I’m incredibly grateful for this experience and would like to thank the NSCC team, Mr Gallagher and Mr Smith for making it all possible.
