Rare Triple crown achieved by Farrer Team
Having worked on designing, programming and operating robots for 5 weeks 20 Farrer Year 8 students were put under the pressure of competing against teams from around NSW. A full day of 55 matches saw Farrer A holding a comfortable lead over two highly competitive Oxley teams with Farrer E rounding out the top 4.
With a combined score of 48 for programming and Driver skills, Farrer D took away the award for Robot skills champions, with only the finals and awards to go. With a commanding finals performance from Farrer E and Oxley C, they were set the goal of 54 to walk away with Teamwork champions. With a safe and solid run Farrer D scored 59 points to win the finals' series.
Surprises were had when the awards were announced with Farrer A getting the innovate award, Farrer E earning Runner up and Farrer D walking away with the Triple crown of Excellence, Robot Skills Champions, Teamwork Champions. In addition, Mr Nick Brady received Volunteer of the year for Judging 15 robotics tournaments over the last 3 years.
