U16s Rugby League

On Wednesday 1st of November the under 16’s rugby league team competed in the Jamie Lyon Killa 9’s Finals here at school. The competition consisted of the best high schools from across the Greater Northern Region spanning from Glen Innes to Singleton. The first game of the competition was against Singleton, after a slow start and a multitude of errors, the team was unable to find a rhythm and ended up losing the game substantially. After a long wait, the second game against Glen Innes began. The game was close and a hat trick by Dustin Wyrzykowski allowed for the game to be drawn but due to us scoring the first try we were awarded the win.

After yet another long wait the third game began against St Joeys Aberdeen and a dominant game led by an injured Reece Josephson allowed for the team to win comfortably by 3 tries. This meant that due to other teams results, we were relying on Singleton to win their game against Glen Innes by less than 10 points in order to secure the overall win through for and against. Singleton and Glen Innes ended up in a back and forth game which ended in Singleton winning by 6, awarding us the trophy. A special thanks to Mr Pete Stevens for coaching the boys and the Fec staff for providing lunch for the boys.

We were proud to present the Jamie Lyon Killa 9's Rugby League Trophy to Mr Jones who accepted on behalf of Mr Gallagher at the School Assembly held on 16 November.
