Year 9 Wool Science Sheering

This week, Year 9 Wool Science are learning to shear the Merino sheep with Mr Smith. This is a part of the practical component of the course alongside the breeding and stud management aspects. They also learn to throw fleeces, skirt and roll wool.

7 Ag1 were lucky enough to watch shearing and have Mr Smith teach them about the value of different parts of the fleece.

Thank you to farm staff Rob Bandy for also assisting the boys and teaching them how to shear.
