Farrer Rugby New Zealand Tour
Tour so far from Mr Gareth Garnsey:
On Monday 3 July, we touched down in Auckland smoothly with no issues through customs despite everyone’s muddy footy boots.
The next day involved the “All Blacks Experience”, the boys learning the history of rugby in NZ and how it evolved.
That afternoon we braved 4 seasons of weather to have an exceptional training sessions with 17 time All Black; Pita Alatini. He was incredible and the boys got a lot out of it, learning new skills and getting fired up for a first game against Maclean College.
Wednesday saw us take on Maclean College, a school the overlooks the seaside with over 2,500 students.
They were incredibly welcoming and a tough fought battle saw us come out on top 15 - 5. The boys definitely made some new friends across the ditch.
Then patched through to Rotorua for a day of Luging and an all you can eat Mongolian buffet. We also enjoyed some swimming in the hot springs which although very scenic, was also very smelly!
The boys have a few more activities before we focus on our next game against John Paul College on Saturday. Word on the street is that this will be a tough game!
Go Farrer!
