Visual Arts Archibald Prize Presentation
On Friday the 4th August, elective Visual Arts students in Years 10, 11 and 12 had the opportunity to engage with a regional connect learning session organised by the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Within this, they gained insight into the Archibald Prize competition, current winners and past controversies pertaining to the genre of portraiture. Alongside the presentation, students explored the work of Australian artist Dan Butterworth and his expressive style of portrait painting. They then enjoyed furthering their own creativity as they experimented with acrylic paint on cardboard to form their own expressive portrait artworks.
